Are you prepared to be vetted? In April, 2012, the CFPB issued a bulletin holding lenders liable for violations of federal consumer protection laws by their third party service providers, including title insurance agents. Find out how the contents of this bulletin will affect you, and what you need to do now to remain on a lender’s approved closers list.

Community Service: It was decided that the chapter will do a food drive for the local food banks. We will collect at our places of employment and ask chapter members to bring everything they have collected to the meetings. We rotate our meeting between Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties. Everything collected at each meeting will be taken to the food bank for the county hosting the meeting. That way, we can benefit all 3 counties. Brenda will look into seeing if we can make a public presentation of items to be put in the local newspaper to give us some positive exposure and maybe draw some interest into the MLTA and our chapter.
We will check with the MLTA to see if we can offer some sort of discount on the March Education if you bring a bag of food for the food drive.
January Meeting: Our next meeting will be January 10, 2013 at 9:00 am at Aspect Title & Escrow, LLC in California, Maryland. This will be a business meeting, and our main focus will be finalizing plans for the March education.
