MEET (VIRTUALLY) DELEGATE MARVIN HOLMES AND SENATOR MICHAEL HOUGH AT MLTA LEGISLATIVE TRAINING: ABC'S OF ANNAPOLIS

With the pandemic changing the way the Maryland General Assembly will conduct its business in 2021, MLTA will not be able to conduct our traditional annual Lobby Day as we have in years past, so we are bringing a new and different feel to our annual Lobby Day.

Join us on Thursday December 10th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm for a session on the "ABCs of Annapolis" providing an overview of the upcoming session including updates on introuced legislation and the importance of how and why to develop relationships with your elected officials.

In addition, we will be joined by two legislators:

Delegate Marvin Holmes, Chairman of the Real Property Subcommittee. Delegate Holmes will discuss the upcoming session, legislation that he is introducing on behalf of MLTA, and legislation that he expects to see this session that may be of interest to MLTA.

Senator Michael Hough, newly elected Minority Whip in the Senate. Senator Hough will discuss how the minority party will now approach/debate legislation on the floor and in committee.  As a member of the Judicial Proceedings Committee, where proposed legislation that impacts the Real Property Article is assigned, Senator Hough will also give insight into the committee’s composition and legislation he expects to see before the committee this session.

Why Should You Participate?

Lobbying provides elected and appointed officials with the information they need to make the best decisions for their constituencies. The relationships you can develop along with information and education you can provide may be critical to the decisions that legislators make on issues that concern the title industry. Legislators respond to constituents and to personal contacts. One never knows what may occur in any session, and we want to be prepared to deal in an effective manner with any issues that arise. We want the members of the General Assembly to know who MLTA is and what we stand for, and the way to do that is to introduce ourselves.
