Bay County Settlements, Inc. is a regional title company with offices in Maryland and Northern Virginia. We are growing, and we seek an experienced Settlement and Title Processor/Settlement Officer for an immediate opening in Southern Maryland (Waldorf, MD).

In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating residential purchase, sale, and refinance transactions from the opening of a file (after receiving a real estate contract or request for title order) to post-closing. Our goal is to deliver a positive and memorable settlement experience to all stakeholders throughout the real estate purchase and sale process. We operate in a fast-paced environment, and having a keen focus on customer service under pressure is essential for this position. We seek an individual who has experience in all aspects of the settlement process, from collecting and indexing documents related to settlement, preparing HUD-1 Settlement Statements, Closing Disclosures, and American Land Title Association (ALTA) Settlement Statements, reviewing title reports, and preparing title insurance binders and policies, facilitating and coordinating settlement with various stakeholders, to coordinating post-closing activities. Experience and/or familiarity with ALTA Best Practices is essential for the position.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Coordinating settlement activity and communicating with principals to transactions, real estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other deal stakeholders throughout the real estate settlement process
-Preparing the settlement file and all related documents in the closing process
-Issuing of title insurance products
-Conducting settlements
-Coordinating post-closing activity

Qualifications:
-Two (2) or more years of settlement processing and title industry experience working for a title company and/or law practice
-Strong customer service focus
-Notary public commission in Maryland (or the ability to acquire)
-Title insurance license (or the ability to acquire)
-Familiarity for industry title computer software (specifically TSS and/or Qualia)
-Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite Software (specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel)

Title Insurance Regional Sales Manager, Alexandria, VA

Weichert Title Agency is hiring a Regional Sales Manager in the Capitol Region. The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for selling title services within Virginia and Maryland. The position prospects and sells to Weichert Sales Associates and Sales Managers in order to achieve identified sales objectives. This sales role is highly collaborative by partnering with Weichert Real Estate Leadership, Company President and our closing partners to increase market share. The initial focus of this role is in Virginia. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Secures title insurance orders from a variety of customers including realtors and loan officers, banks, lenders, investors, and buyers.
  • Works in partnership with Weichert Residential Sales Leadership- RVP and Sales Managers to help drive residential sales through value added sales and marketing strategies to build relationships with sales associates.
  • Sells title services to achieve monthly and annual sales objectives. Monitors individual performance on a daily basis to ensure objectives are met.
  • Develops efficient sales and marketing efforts and processes to drive sales efforts.
  • Ensures new customers are effectively communicated with and shares desired service objectives with the operations team.
  • Builds and maintains relationships through sales initiatives including networking, event management, new relationship on-boarding, order completion, and customer retention.
  • Manages the title sales activities within an assigned Weichert Sales Office territory, including monitoring the order pipeline from order entry to closing.
  • Delivers presentations at sales office meetings and to new customers.
  • Partners with the Operations Team, Closing Partners and the Regional Residential Sales Teams to build trusted partnerships and to achieve targeted sales goals. Provides necessary support to communicate with all parties.
  • Maintains compliance standards set forth by the Company.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records and reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Title insurance license required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of sales experience required
  • Previous experience in the title or residential real estate industry strongly preferred

Commercial Real Estate Attorney, Washington, DC

Title company and affiliate boutique real estate law firm seeking a full-time commercial real estate attorney for our Georgetown Waterfront office. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong attention to detail who thrives in an entrepreneurial/start-up environment. Essential Job Functions include without limitation:

  • Review title reports, chain of title and other documents of record, prepare title commitment and title insurance policies, and work with agency underwriting counsel to resolve extraordinary title issues;
  • Interface directly with purchasers, sellers, lenders and their respective attorneys to facilitate transactions, address coverage requests and otherwise manage expectations;
  • Underwrite commercial and residential title in connection with the issuance of title insurance policies relating to properties located in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. respectively;
  • Review ALTA, as-built, location or other surveys as they relate to the subject transaction and requests for insurance coverage;
  • Prepare Closing Disclosures, HUD-1 Settlement Statements and closing costs estimates for clients and prospective clients;
  • Manage commercial and residential files and staff relating to matters concerning pre-processing through post-closing, including without limitation, being primarily responsible for communication with clients and their respective attorneys;
  • Review organizational documents of entities, trust agreements and estate documents in connection with determining proper authority of parties to transact;
  • Prepare title closing documents, including without limitation, deeds;
  • Conduct closings for residential transactions taking place in our office and/or remotely;

Requirements:

  • A juris doctorate degree and barred in Maryland, District of Columbia and/or Virginia.
  • Title Producers license in Maryland, District of Columbia and/or Virginia.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with title insurance underwriting, processing and closing commercial real estate transactions.
  • TSS experience preferred, but not required.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, great attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills are a must.
  • Able to meet critical deadlines.
  • Experience with direct client and lender contact (i.e. phone calls, e-mail, and mail correspondence).
