The Maryland Land Title Association (MLTA) has confirmed with the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) that on October 1, 2024 when Maryland HB0265/SB0336 goes into effect:

  • pre-licensing education will no longer be required to become a title insurance producer;
  • that there will no longer be a requirement for an applicant for a title insurance producer license to provide a certificate that the pre-licensing education has been completed prior to taking the insurance producer examination; and
  • because pre-licensing education will no longer be a requirement the Insurance Education Waiver Application and Affidavit of Employer is no longer necessary.

The MLTA recognizes the value of pre-licensing education for those candidates preparing to take the insurance producer examination and as such will continue to offer its pre-licensing education curriculum. Our course is designed to help prepare you for the state-proctored licensing exam.

The MLTA offers a self-paced online class to best fit your needs.  Have questions before you get started, click on the "Licensing FAQ" link below to understand what you have to do.
